Japanese Authorities Seek to Shut Down Sex Shops, Make Streets Less Safe

In a what-the-fuck move, police have begun a crackdown on Japan’s red light districts in a bid to capture the 2016 Olympics the UK’s Guardian reports, even though the the areas have been an accepted part of the cities for centuries.
Casualties to the Times Square-ification of the areas include a topless flight attendant-themed venue and a fetish club, among others. No word if a Disney Store will take their place.
Note to self: Tokyo is now non-conducive to this Wayne Hentai lifestyle — unless they install more vending machines with used panties.
Never mind the fact that hookers and a big pile of cash have been big pluses for the International Olympic Committee when they’ve figured out where to hold the overproduced track meet/venue for sports you only hear about at those games in the past.
Ironically, the crackdown on the businesses seen to be making the districts less safe according to the Tokyo Reporter. Regulars to the area say streets that were once lit up by bright neon signs are now dark and feel unsafe.
