Chinese Government Thinks of the Children

Proving once again that where there’s porn, there’s denial, China joins the killjoys from the United States in pointing the finger of all society’s ills on naked people having sex for fun and profit.

Of course, 30 years ago the profit part of that equation would have been enough to get someone in China time in a reeducation camp. But they’ve moved on to focusing on fun by cracking down on adult cellphone websites, instant messaging, chat rooms and video download pages.

No word as to whether the middle-aged men cruising for teenaged girls on chat and IM sites and the other middle-aged men who who log on as those teenaged girls are outraged.

The prohibition on anything all things wang-related comes on the heels of an earlier Internet restrictions on X-rated websites — prompting China’s 1 billion-plus population to ask what the point of the going online is if there’s no porn.

The government is (predictably) thinking about the children, saying boobies on the Internet are “endangering young people’s healthy growth.”

However stifling dissent and repressing Tibet, apparently, does not endanger young people’s healthy growth.
